Obituary - Sandra J. Bowman

Sandra Jean Bowman, 83, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Tuesday night, March 8, 2022 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. She was born April 17, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Troy Jerome Stevenson and Oleta (Sullivan) Stevenson.

She married George L. Bowman, Sr., in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 2000. Sandra was employed with the Clinton School District as a lunch room attendant for several years. She was a member of the Friendly Pentecostal Church in Clinton. Sandra's life was centered around Jesus. She loved her Lord and Savior and spent her lifetime making sure her friends and family grew to know Jesus as well. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and never quit wanting to learn and grow more in his love. Her early years were full of fun times with her church friends. Her first concert she attended was Jimmy Dean. As a young woman she enjoyed bowling, riding horses and being with her family. Sandra was a wonderful cook and baker. She was famous for her green beans, noodles, peanut butter cookies, and brownies. Every homemade meal from Sandra was a table full of homemade dishes that were made from the heart. She had a green thumb. She loved plants, flowers, and gardening. She spent many hours snapping green beans and making sure her garden was plentiful. Sandra was a talented seamstress. She had made many outfits over the years for her grandkids. She also made sure that her family's outfits were neatly pressed and well fitted. She loved to knit blankets and cross stitch. She loved to shop and never passed up a good bargain or a chance to go to JCPenney's. She would always make sure she read the weekly grocery sales to find those bargains too. She loved to play card games or dominoes with friends and family. She had a competitive side and didn't give in even when it came to playing with the grandchildren. She liked to win. For downtime, Sandra enjoyed doing word searches and reading. She never lost her spot in a book thanks to her trusty clothespin. She also enjoyed watching movies. She would never pass up a movie to watch at home or going to the theater. Sandra was always ready to go on a trip. She loved traveling with friends or family. The beautiful sights of Oregon were some of her favorites she had ever seen. But, she would always say that her bags were packed if anyone wanted to go to Branson for the weekend. Happiness to her was her family. She loved spending time with her family and would do anything for them. She was always willing to have sleepovers with the grandkids where they would play Wahoo, eat snacks, and stay up late. She spent many hours at sporting events for her kids and grandkids. She was their loudest fan. Give 'em a target she would say! She had a life mission to know Christ. Sandra was determined that every one of her family members would have the chance to know God. Her greatest strength in life was her love for Jesus and it showed by the love she shared with so many people. Surviving are four sons, George Lewis Bowman, Jr., (Supin), Thailand, Randy Blair Bowman (Jennie), state of Georgia, James Robert “Jim” Bowman, Nixa, Mo., and Michael Glenn Bowman, Clinton, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Dawn Petry (Matt), Clinton, Mo., Jeremy Wade Bowman (Monica), Jefferson City, Mo., Christopher Blair Bowman, James Tyler Bowman, Harrisonville, Mo., and Lauren Elaine Burrous (James), Butler, Mo.; eleven great-grandchildren, Allison, Emma, Austin and Adam Petry, Whitney and Maverick Bowman, Bradyn and Ayvah Bowman, and Peyton, Jameson and Mackson Burrous; one brother, James Craig Stevenson (Peggy), Little Rock, AR. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
