Stephen Miller named new principal of Appleton City Elementary School

Please join me in welcoming our new Appleton City Elementary Principal for the 2022-2023 school year, Mr. Stephen Miller. I am looking forward to working with him and am excited about the knowledge, expectations, and enthusiasm he brings with him!

So that you can get to know him a little better, his responses to some questions I asked are below:

Tell us about yourself.
Hello! My name is Stephen Miller and I am honored to introduce myself as principal of Appleton City Elementary School. My wife Talia and I live in Butler with our two boys, Macklin (age 5) and Griffyn (age 1). I enjoy spending time with my family, playing music, watching football, and reading a good book.

Where did you go to school?
I grew up in Stockton, Missouri and attended college at Rockhurst University in Kansas City and Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. I received my degree in education administration from William Woods University.

How many years have you been in education? What is your current position? How many years have you served in that position?
I am currently finishing my 12th year in education. I taught my first six years as a 4th grade teacher at Butler Elementary and then served the past six years as the elementary assistant principal at Butler.

What prompted you to want to become the principal of AC Elementary/MS/HS?
After working as an assistant principal at the elementary level for several years, I am excited to lead an elementary building. I have heard great things about the Appleton City school district and community and I am excited to join the Bulldog family.

What qualities will you bring to Appleton City Schools?
I hope to bring positive energy to Appleton City Elementary. I enjoy working with people and aim to establish strong relationships built on trust and communication. Most importantly, I believe all students can achieve success and that it takes a village to bring out the best in our students.

What are your goals for the next school year?
My goals for next school year are to connect with the students and staff, support teachers, and help to establish a vision for where we want to grow. I am eager to learn more about the Appleton City community and get to work!

What are you most looking forward to?
I am so excited to meet the students, parents, and staff at Appleton City. Appleton City has a supportive, welcoming community and I look forward to investing in the people here.

What are the best aspects of being a principal?
Being able to see growth in students and staff is powerful. As a classroom teacher, I cherished the relationships I established with students and colleagues. Now, being able to have a hand in the lives of so many students and staff at the building level is very rewarding.

Any other info you’d like to include:
As we venture into a new school year, please know that my door is always open. The relationships between families and school are critical to the success of our students and I look forward to partnering with you all!
