BCMH Volunteer of the Year

We are honored to announce the 2021 Volunteer of the Year, Lora Padley. Help us say congratulations to Lora! Lora has volunteered at Bates County Memorial Hospital since July, 2018, and has contributed 715 service hours. She works in the Auxiliary Gift Shop, and her kind demeanor with everyone is only matched by her energy. One of her many tasks is a weekly shopping trip to keep food and drink items stocked in the gift shop.

Lora decided to become a volunteer because she wanted to help her friend, Dorothy Keene (now passed) to get out and be more active, but pretty quickly she found that she really enjoyed it. Lora appreciates that volunteering allows her to meet new people as well as to see old friends. She also gives her time volunteering for her church at the Double Branch Church Thrift Shop.

Like Lora, our volunteers frequently mention that they find fulfillment in giving to others. In turn, they offer so much to our employees, patients and visitors. Just a smile and a listening ear goes a long, long way.

CEO Greg Weaver presented a plaque and a mantel clock to Lora at last Friday's Auxiliary Appreciation Banquet as a thank you from the hospital. BCMH thanks Lora, and all of our volunteers, for the gift of service.
