On 9/18/2022 just after 7pm we responded to the Bates County Memorial Hospital ER. A male subject had been brought in after an area resident called in a report of person acting erratically. Subject is pronounced a short time later in the ER. Cause of death remains under investigation but foul play is not believed involved. An extensive search to locate possible family members to this subject remains underway.
On 9/18/2022 just after 9pm we accepted jurisdictional transfer from Jackson County of a subject pronounced deceased following a motor vehicle accident in Bates County. The case remains under investigation at this time.
On 9/25/2022 just before 1pm we responded to the Merwin area on report of a deceased subject following a motocross accident. The case remains open at this time.
On 9/30/2022 just before 6pm we responded to a residence in Adrian on report of subject found deceased by family members. Death is due to natural causes.
During the month of September, the Coroner’s Office reviewed 8 reports of attended death under hospice/skilled care facility.
