Sheriff’s Deputies gave kids a tour of our “old time jail”. They showed the kids tools of the law enforcement trade from the 1800’s to modern day equipment. They described what the differences were and how they have evolved in the law enforcement industry.
The kids were introduce to two of the County’s Mounted Patrol Horses that took part in the rescue of an elderly man who had fallen in the woods and needed rescued. They got to talk about the horses and then view a patrol car to get a perspective of the transportation issues from the 1800s to today.
Each kid received some special goodies to take home at the end of their tour.
“We are excited about being part of the Frontier Village. Not only is the building a great addition to the village, it is helping us build relationships with our community and our youth through teaching the history of law enforcement. The kids got to step back in time for a little bit and the Deputies had a great time teaching.
