Man arrested in Butler for attempting to steal multiple vehicles

On January 23rd around 7:25 a.m. the Butler Police Department responded to a report of a male attempting to steal a vehicle at Bear Stop gas station in Butler.

When the police arrived on scene they arrested 27 year old Roy A. Love of Mapleton, Kansas (Formerly of Butler).

After an investigation it was determined that Mr. Love also stole some property from Sonic while he was attempting to hide and then he attempted to steal a 2nd vehicle at Smokers Friendly before being stopped at sonic by the truck owner at gun point and eventually being arrested.

Roy A. Love was arrested and charged with the following charges:

1.) Stealing- Motor vehicle/ Watercraft
2.) Stealing- Value less than $150 and no prior stealing offense
3.) Tampering with a motor vehicle - 1st Degree
4.) Burglary - 1st Degree

Mr. Love was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently listed as bondable.
