MDC: Mountain Lion struck by vehicle on Missouri highway

We have confirmed a mountain lion (cougar) was struck by a vehicle last night at Highway T and Old Highway 100 just north of Villa Ridge in Franklin County.

The first report of the incident came to our staff around 8:30 p.m. No humans were injured, but the mountain lion was apparently injured and stunned.

It eventually ran away from the scene. Conservation agents searched for the animal last night and resumed looking this morning. So far it has not been found.

We have no information on the mountain lion regarding gender, exact size, weight, age, etc.

We're encouraging anyone who might see the animal to maintain a safe distance, do not approach it, and report the sighting to MDC or local law enforcement. This is only the third confirmed mountain lion sighting in MDC’s St. Louis Region since 2011.
