Michael Andrew Gieringer, (aka Mick, Mickey, son, brother, Dad, Grandpa, and Opa) age 83, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Gieringer, his mother, Margaret Pierce Gieringer, wife Norma (Hollingshad Claar) Gieringer, former wife Allene (Eubank) Gieringer and brothers Charles (Chuck) Gieringer Jr., Robert (Bob) Gieringer, Homer Gieringer, Thomas (Tom) Gieringer, John Gieringer, his sisters Rosemary Schultz, Kathy Bennett, and Betty Thomas.
Michael is survived by his brothers Leo Gieringer and Benjamin (Ben) Gieringer, his children, Cindy (Gieringer) Ash, Dee (Gieringer) Cahill and husband Terry, Michelle (Gieringer) Smedley and husband Greg, Lori (Gieringer) Laughrey and husband Rick, Dan Claar and wife Rose, David Claar and wife Deborah, Patrick Claar and wife Rita, Jeff Claar and wife Julie, Kathy (Claar) Chael and husband Rick, Karen (Claar) Halastik and husband Mark.
Michael is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua (Erika) Cahill, Jami (Andrew) Kiesling, Darren Cahill, Tyler (Kaley) Ash, Rachel (Corbin) Soliday, Sarah (Shadeed) Khan, Danielle Laughrey, Nick Laughrey, Grace Smedley, Josh Claar, Nick Claar, Jessica (Alvero) Gamarra, Ben Claar, Pat Claar, Michelle (Kelly) Kaiser, Jennifer (Billy) Page, Chelcia (Jesse) Cantu, Rocky (Leah) Chael, Katy (Tristan) Chiarolanza, Olga (Ben) Burwell, Mark Halastik, Corey and Elizabeth Halastik, Ashton (Ashton) Collier, Hanna Fiene and HOLY SMOKES….twenty-six (26) great grandchildren.
Michael was born August 17, 1939, at the Gieringer home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Southwest High School in 1957. Mick attended Central Missouri State University (CMSU) and later received his Master’s in Education. He was united in marriage to Allene Gieringer for 28 years and then married Norma Claar in 1988 and was happily married until she passed away in 2007. Mick worked as an administrator and retired after 45 years of service from the Shawnee Mission school district. He then went on to work for the Blue Valley School District for an additional 6 years. Mick loved teaching so much, he continued working as a substitute teacher for the Raymore School district for the last few years.
Mick was an avid sportsman. Throughout his life, he played baseball, football and basketball, ending his college career as a kicker for CMSU. He also enjoyed golf and fishing throughout his life.
Oh Mick…. what a legacy, what a life! We invite each of you to keep him alive in your hearts. We were each touched by his presence, and we are better because of that. Thank you for making his life so meaningful.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26th at 10:00am and Service at 11:00am at Cullen Funeral Home at 612 W Foxwood Drive, Raymore, MO 64083.
