Great story from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Hilty wishes to express his sincere appreciation and admiration to Detective Chris Jones, who is selflessly donating a kidney to a fellow employee and friend, Sgt Devin Young.

In May 2022, Sgt Young went to Research KC Hospital with kidney failure. Since then, Sgt Young had to move closer to a hospital, per doctor’s orders and has liquidated a lot of his personal property to help with his personal budget. Several fundraisers have happened to help him with the on-going expenses of dialysis and constant doctors visits. 

In December 2022, Sgt Young was cleared for a transplant. Friend and co-worker, Det. Jones, answered the call and was selected as a match for Sgt Young. Next week Det Jones will be donating a kidney to Sgt Young.

 
Sheriff Hilty Stated, “This is a selfless act by Det. Jones. You do not find this kind of dedication very often. Although, it is not surprising, for this is the kind of person Det. Jones is. But Sgt Young is not out of the woods yet as there is still a lot of time and risk associated with the transplant. However, this gift is one major hurdle out of the way. I wish both deputies a healthy, speedy recovery. May God bless them both.”
