The Butler Bears Varsity Baseball team Clinches Lead in Seventh Inning to Defeat St. Michael the Archangel 

The Butler Bears Varsity baseball team stole the lead late in the game in a 14-13 victory over St. Michael the Archangel on baseball action Wednesday. 

The game was tied at nine with the Butler Bears battling in the top of the seventh when Maddox Fennewald singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Despite falling down by five runs in the seventh inning, St. Michael the Archangel tried to fight back.

St. Michael the Archangel scored four runs in the failed comeback on an error, a walk by Berry, and a single by Cure. 

St. Michael the Archangel captured the lead in the first inning. Goose drove in one when Gose singled. In the top of the fifth inning, Butler Bears tied things up at nine. Jake Chandler’s sac fly scored two runs for the Butler Bears.

St. Michael the Archangel scored six runs in the third inning. Cure,Briggs,and Simpson each drove in runs during the inning. 

Zayn Carson was on the hill for the Butler Bears. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on three hits over two and a third innings, striking out five.

Hose was on the mound for St. Michael the Archangel. The pitcher lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs while striking out two. Zaun there two and a third innings in relief.

The Butler Bears tallied 12 hits. Fennewald, Eli Cox, and Carson all had multiple hits for the Butler Bears. Fennewald went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Butler Bears in hits.

Zaun led St. Michael the Archangel with two hits in four at bats. The Butler Bears will play this Friday in Buffalo against the bison.
