Adrian man arrested on sex crimes

On 5/10/23 Detectives we’re notified by a concerned parent in regards to a 39 year old male having inappropriate contact with his minor child over social media. Detectives began to work the case and reached out to the FBI’s Child Exploitation Taskforce to ask for assistance. Members of the Taskforce and Sheriff’s Office met at the Sheriff’s Office to formulate a plan on this case. The FBI took over the social media account and continued to communicate with the 39 year old male.

During the inappropriate conversations the suspect made arrangements to meet with, who he thought was a 14 year old girl. During the conversation with undercover agents the suspect talked about drug use and sex. The suspect then made arrangements to meet the minor child in the parking lot of a business inside the City of Adrian.

An undercover female Detective was deployed as a decoy at the meeting location. At approximately 9pm, the suspect arrived at the location and approached the undercover female. As he was making contact with the decoy an arrest team, composed of Deputies and FBI agents, converged on the parking lot and took the male into custody.

Sean Patrick O’Riley, 8/27/83, of rural Adrian was charged with;

Count 1 - Enticement or Attempted Enticement of a child an unclassified felony

Count 2 - Attempted endangering the welfare of a child a class E Felony.

Count 3 - Attempted child molestation in the 4th degree, a class A Misdemeanor.

Bond was set at $50,000 Cash Only

This was great team effort to take a child predator off the street. While we know about this particular incident, we are still investigating whether there are other victims or potential victims. There is plenty of evidence that we will work with our partners to go over and make sure there aren’t other crimes connected to this subject.” Says Sheriff Anderson.
