The Coroner’s office can be reached directly at (660) 679-0009, selecting option 2 for the Coroner’s Office. You may select (1) to be connected directly to the investigator on call; (2) to request a Cremation Authorization, or (3) for any other matter. Voicemails are returned promptly if the investigator on duty is on a scene or momentarily unavailable.
The following activity report is for the month of April:
On April 10th just after 8pm we responded to a residence within the city limits of Adrian in response to family members finding a 70 year-old male deceased. Investigation determined death was due to natural causes.
On April 11th at approximately 2:30 PM we responded to an apartment residence within the city limits of Butler where a 40 year-old female was discovered after friends came to check on her. The investigation is complete and foul play is not involved.
On April 17th just after 6PM we responded to a residence within the city limits of Adrian after family members found a 72 year-old female deceased at home. Investigation determined death is due to natural causes.
On April 22nd just after 9am we responded to a residence in rural Adrian where a 78 year-old male had been discovered deceased by family. Investigation determined death is due to natural causes.
On April 25th just after 2:30 PM we responded to the Bates County Memorial Hospital Emergency Department per protocol to review death of a 60 year-old male. Death is due to natural causes.
On April 25th at approximately 11:19PM we accepted jurisdictional transfer of a decedent from Jackson County Medical Examiner, Kansas City, Mo., regarding an 87 year-old female who passed away subsequent to an MVA in Bates County. Investigation is complete with death accidental in nature.
During the month of April the office reviewed (6) reports of death under hospice/nursing care.
