Butler Bears Varsity Baseball Claims Lead in Seventh Inning to Defeat Warsaw... Moving onto District Championship Game Tomorrow.

The Butler Bears Varsity Baseball team snagged a late lead and defeated the Warsaw Wildcats 6-4 on Wednesday in the 2nd round of district baseball play. 

The Bears trailed 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning when Zayn Carson singled in a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Warsaw scored three runs in the third inning, but the Bears still managed to pull out a victory. The big inning for Warsaw came thanks to a single by Garrett Ferguson and an error on a error on a ball put in play by Nick Bagley. The Bears opened up scoring in the first inning. Eli Cox grounded out, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, Warsaw tied things up at one when an error scored one run for Warsaw.

Maddox Fennewald led things off on the hill for the Bears. The righty lasted six innings, allowing one hit and four runs while striking out nine.

Josh Bunch was on the mound for Warsaw. The Wildcat lasted five innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out four. Kendall Bagley entered the game out of relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.

The Bears tallied six hits on the day. Fennewald and Carson each collected multiple hits for the Bears. Carson and Fennewald each collected two hits to lead the Bears.

Ferguson went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Warsaw in hits.

The Butler Bears (15-7) will move on to play for a District Championship tomorrow at 3pm against the Cole Camp Blue Birds (12-15) in Cole Camp. Best of luck Bears!!!
