The Caring Eagles (CE’s) is a voluntary student service learning group at Miami Elementary consisting of fifth and sixth graders. This group was formed with the goal of providing leadership opportunities for the upper elementary students. This group organized Red Ribbon Week in October, encouraged the donation of pull tabs to be given to the Ronald McDonald House Program that assists families of hospitalized children, and delivered birthday cards and small treats for the elementary students.
In addition, they identified two causes that they wanted to support by selling items. They sold scented pencils called Smencils to raise funds to help with playground improvements. They raised $225 to donate toward this cause
