Eva Maria Dockery, 94, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Bridgewater Park in Ocala, Florida. Her ashes, along with those of her husband, Virgil, will be interred at Laurel Land Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas, with date to be determined.
Eva Maria Olga Prill was born January 4, 1929, in Stendal, Germany; the only child of Helmut Ernest Prill and Maria Franziska Koch Prill. She was raised in Stendal with her parents and grandparents, Karl and Pelagia Koch.
Eva attended the conservatory to study music and sing opera. She had a beautiful singing voice, and was very talented on the accordion.
In 1953, Eva immigrated to the United States. Her parents had immigrated in 1952, and they reunited in Fort Worth, Texas. There, she enrolled in a cosmetology school to become a beautician and managed to learn English along the way. Eva became a naturalized U.S. Citizen on March 31, 1961.
Eva married Virgil Lee Dockery on October 17, 1959, and together they raised three children; Chuck, Debra and Patty. After Virgil's retirement, they moved to Happy Trails, an RV resort in Surprise, Arizona. They enjoyed years of traveling, visiting friends and family, and genealogy research. In 2003, they moved to Butler, Missouri, to be closer to family. After Virgil's death in 2004, Eva remained in Butler where she had many friends along with daughter Debra and her family. In 2018, Eva moved to Ocala, Florida, residing at Bridgewater Park Health and Rehab.
Survivors: Son, Chuck Prill (Gina) of Willow Park, TX; daughters, Debra Hopkins (David) of Winter Haven, FL, and Patty Waddell (Jim) of Ocala, FL. Grandchildren: Chuck, Keith and Lea Prill; Heather Kreckman, Bethany Short, David Jason and Daniel Lee Hopkins, Jim and Jeff Waddell, and Jennifer Ream; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-greatgrandchildren.
