After a short courtship of 25 years, Frank married the love of his life, Delores Stark, of Adrian, on November 10, 2022. Frank grew up in the Adrian area and attended Adrian High School where he graduated in May 1967.
Frank continued his education in Warrensburg, MO at CMSC where he attained a Bachelors of Arts degree in Industrial Arts and Drafting. After college, Frank enlisted in and served six years with the Army Air National Guard. Most of that time he served as a crew chief on a Huey Helicopter.
In his youth, Frank was also a Boy Scout earning the rank of Eagle Scout, attaining the God and Country Award and was a fire builder in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Later, Frank moved to Texas with his daughter, Chali, and for this little girl a whole new adventurous world was opened up. To Chali, her dad was a Rock Star. He broadened her horizons and showed her many wonders the world had to offer.
Together they experienced a variety of ethnic cuisines and cultures. They would go to a rock concert one time and the ballet the next. They toured the southwest and visited The Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, The Petrified Forest, Lake Powell and The Glen Canyon Dam, where they went white water rafting on the Colorado River. One night, they even rolled out their sleeping bags on one of those road side tables the Native Americans sell their crafts from and spent a night under the beautiful canopy of the starlit southwest sky.
Frank once took Chali and her half sister, Anya, to Cancun where they rented a silver VW bug and drove deep into Mexico so Chali could experience first-hand the awesome heritage and culture of the Mexican people and climbed the face of The Mayan Ruins to the top. Every day was filled with a new adventure and a new life experience.
Frank wanted Chali to experience life's adventures first hand and carry those fond memories throughout her life. Frank always took time to enjoy the beauty of a spectacular sunrise or sunset. Frank was a lover of a variety of music with a preference for Rock & Roll.
For Frank, there was only one way to listen to Rock & Roll, which was turn it up! Frank was a gifted photographer and a lover of animals. He did not own a gun and when he joined the family hunting trips the only shots he took were with his camera.
During his lifetime, Frank did many of things; he was a photographer, worked on a truck dock, drove a truck, and was the office manager for Adrian Plumbing for 25 years. After he retired, his encore career was driving part time for Oates. A job that he thoroughly enjoyed and one where he made many new friends.
Frank was a quiet and humble servant and served in many capacities. He drove the Seniors Volunteer Taxi, ran errands and transported elderly or shut-in people to doctors appointments in his personal vehicle and at his own expense. He was very generous and always willing to share with those less fortunate.
Each Saturday, he did the grocery shopping for the week and Delores said he spent as much on items to place in the Blessing Box at church that he did for himself. He always put the welfare of other first.
He served as a sound engineer for the Adrian United Methodist Church and was the official Adrian Chamber of Commerce Sign guy who posted hundreds of messages on their sign beginning on Jun 1, 2009 until recently when his health failed. He was the leader, manager, detail organizer and safety supervisor for the Adrian Optimist "Bomb Squad" for nearly fifteen years and oversaw the annual fireworks show each July 4th. Frank designed from scratch and by hand the original artwork for the coveted "Bomb Squad" t-shirts that were printed each year.
Frank was well known for his massive vocabulary, and maybe massive is not the correct word to us, but Frank is not here to help with that. He knew the word, how to pronounce it, how to spell it, how to use it in a sentence and could tell you it's origin and which Greek Word it was derived from.
Everything Frank did was very methodical, structured and regimented. He dotted the I's, crossed the T's and gave great attention to every detail. He was the best manager Adrian Plumbing ever had. He could stretch more out of nothing than anyone you could meet and was perfectly happy and content to quietly organize and manage the details of his little corner of the world.
Frank loved his family, friends and the people of the Adrian Community. Frank had a deep faith in God almighty. He took with him the love of Jesus Christ in his heart. What he left behind is the fond memories of his family, friends and the people of his community have of him. His reputation, that is his greatest legacy.
