Randall "Randy" D. Roberts, 74, of Butler, MO passed away suddenly on May 3, 2023. He was born November 1, 1948 in Nevada, MO to Gerald K. and Alice E. (Clark) Roberts.
Randy lived in Nevada on his parent’s dairy farm until the beginning of his freshman year. He moved to Butler in 1962, where his parents opened Alices’ Café. Randy graduated from Butler High School with the class of 1966. During his senior year he started dating Carol Meade, of Ballard, who was the love of his life. They married in November of 1967 and to this union 2 daughters were born, Deena Michelle and Danielle Leann.
Anyone who knew Randy, will know him as an avid motorcyclist. He always said he started riding with his Uncle B.D. when he was maybe five years old. He never lost his love for two wheels and later in life his bright orange three wheeled motorcycle trike. He belonged to two organizations with other motorcycle enthusiasts’ the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and more recently ROMEOs (Retired Old Motorcyclists Eating Out). Because of these two groups, he and Carol traveled many happy miles over the years and made lots of lifelong friendships.
After Randy’s graduation from high school, he worked at Associated Natural Gas Co for 15 years. Then decided he should go back to school. He attended and graduated in 1985 from CMSU with a Bachelor’s degree and went to work at Butler State Bank. This started a long career in the banking industry before retirement.
Randy is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Carol Roberts of the home, and two daughters Deena McGuire of Butler, and Danielle Rolph (Scott McElwain) of Ballard, Mo.; Brother, Gary Roberts (Mickey) and sister Nancy Wilhelmson both of Butler; Son-in-Law, Lyle McGuire, Six grandchildren Cody McGuire (Julienne), Courtney McGuire, Tanner McGuire (Ashley), Jadan Rolph, Jakaila Rolph, and Dax Rolph; and three great grandchildren Brayden, Garren, and Scarlett. Randy was very proud of his daughters and even more proud of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law Charles and Nadine Meade, an infant sister, Meredith Kay, and two brothers-in-law Charles Meade Jr. and Larry Wilhelmson.
