Jim was united in marriage to Margaret Ellen Wright on February 12, 1956. He was a devoted family and dairy farmer. He was also involved in civic organizations, including, Jayhawk Linn USD 346 School Board, FMHA Board and was a 4-H Leader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Paul Gabbert, and a sister, Elinor Waddell. Jim is survived by his wife, Margaret, son, Wayne Gabbert and wife Janet, two daughters, Laurie Gabbert, and Shirley Gabbert, a sister, Carol Grantham, three grandchildren, Amanda, Darrell and Seth, and four great grandchildren, Henry, Harper, Hudsyn, and Hadlee.
Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Monday June 19, 2023 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Jayhawk Linn FFA or Linn County 4-H Council. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
