Update from the City of Harrisonville Electric Department

A statement regarding the power outage that occurred shortly after 5 a.m. this morning. Early this morning, residents notified City staff of a large outage affecting portions of south and central Harrisonville.

After searching for several hours to find the source of the outage, crews were able to find a pole near Brickplant Road that had been struck by lightning - causing significant damage to the pole and to the services fed by the pole .

The pole was behind a gate that was locked with a chain, which crews had to cut through to begin making repairs. Shortly before noon, a small repair was made, restoring power for some residents.

At about 2:05 p.m., crews disabled service for a final time to make their final repairs and to fully restore power to all customers.

We understand that this outage lasted substantially longer than many that our crews battle and that residents were inconvenienced by this.
We appreciate your patience with our staff and want to assure you that all areas have been fully repaired.
