Obituary - John D. Harold

The Memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of John Dee Harold, 73, of Enid, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday July 14, 2023, at Oakwood Christian Church with Paul Barber and Herb Rainey Co-officiating. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

John was born June 13, 1950, to William and Lela Buckland Harold in Waynoka, Oklahoma and passed from this life July 6, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated near Appleton City, Missouri graduating from high school with the class of 1968. He moved to Ottumwa, Iowa and attended Midwestern School of Evangelism for two years.

He married Sharon Wix in 1972 in Butler, Missouri. The couple moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 1972 to be near church and friends. He was always a very hard worker!

Through the years, he worked at Speedstar, Singer Steel, worked evenings at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home, had several paper routes with Enid Newspapers for 23 years and finished his working career at Metals USA. He was an avid reader and master gardener, enjoyed sports, both playing and listening on the radio, and he absolutely loved spending time with his family and friends. His smile and orneriness will be dearly missed and we will now all have to remember when our birthdays and anniversaries are, as we all loved receiving these yearly texts with well wishes from John.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Harold, two daughters, Venessa (Paul) Barber, of Enid, OK, Lanell (Ryan) Cadwell, of Carmel, IN; two sons, Daniel Harold (Jessica Van Horn), of Indianapolis, IN, and Dustin (Jessica) Harold, of Enid, OK; ten grandchildren, Josh (Miranda), Caleb, Shiloh, Danika, Kadin, Alexis, Easton, Maddox, Emma, and Lawson; two brothers, Ed Harold and Tom (Grace) Harold; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the Midwest Youth Camp with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences and special memories may be shared with the family online at WWW.Brown-Cummings.com.

Since John was such an avid gardener (of indoor and outdoor plants) we have an abundance of plants. In lieu of flowers and plants, we would request that if you would like to bless Sharon, that you bless her with gift cards instead!

Black attire is not necessary and floral print is encouraged as we honor John and his love for his flowers.
