Bates County Memorial Hospital invited Rick Brattin, Missouri State Senator (Dist. 31) to tour our facility, discuss the financial issues rural hospitals are facing and to seek his insight and ideas for keeping health care close to home.
Prior to a tour of the hospital, CEO Greg Weaver and other staff members met with Senator Brattin to explore solutions or grants available at the state level.
They also wanted to share the unique limitations our hospital deals with, including the government-controlled discounts and programs that exclude a hospital like BCMH, and other regulations that create an uneven playing field, putting independent, rural hospitals at a distinct disadvantage.
We enjoyed getting to know Senator Brattin, and are grateful for his visit and for the chance to advocate for our community’s hospital.
