Update from the shooting in Cass County:
On 07-24-23 Detectives with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office submitted the case for review by the Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
After reviewing all the evidence, the person of interest was released with no charges being filed at this time.

On 07-23-23, at approximately 7:38 pm, Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Lakeview Drive in rural Freeman after receiving reports of a shooting.
Cass County Deputies arrived on scene and located a white male subject laying in the roadway with another male party attempting life saving procedures.
The subject, identified as Edward Demoussett (65) from Freeman Missouri, was declared deceased upon the arrival of EMS.The Sheriff’s Office’s Crime Scene Response Team was activated to process the scene.

A person of interest was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for further questioning. No additional information will be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
