According to Cheryl’s time card, she clocked out at 10:00 pm, and by 10:17 pm, had set the store alarm. Reports state that the store’s janitor left a few minutes prior to Cheryl.
The janitor later stated that when he left, there were no customer cars left in the parking lot, however, there was a male customer inside the store. Although the janitor stated he did not recognize the man, that would not necessarily be unusual, as there were several motels within walking distance of the store. The customer has never been identified.
Due to store policy and closing procedures, it is unlikely that there would be anyone inside the store when Cheryl set the alarm and exited. It was also against store policy to allow anyone inside after closing.
Cheryl never arrived home that night to her husband and two children. When Cheryl was reported missing, authorities initially acted as if Cheryl may have left of her own accord.
Cheryl’s mother had recently died and she was having a difficult time dealing with the loss. However, it is reported that at the time of her disappearance, Cheryl was only carrying around six dollars on her person.
Additionally, it would have been out of character for her to abandon her husband, her two children and her father, who was ill. Cheryl’s White Chevrolet was also found abandoned in the store parking lot.
Several days later, two witnesses in the area of the store read of Cheryl’s disappearance in a newspaper. They contacted the police stating that they had heard a woman screaming at the time Cheryl would have been leaving the store. Cheryl has never been seen or heard from since.
Cheryl Ann Kenney was born on July 8, 1960, and was 30 years old at the time of her disappearance. If Cheryl is alive, she would be around 62 years old today.
Cheryl is a Caucasian female with light brown hair and green eyes. Cheryl’s hair was bleached blonde at the tips at the time of her disappearance. Cheryl is around 5’6” in height, and weighed around 117 lbs. at the time she went missing.
