Commission to pay invoices submitted by sheriff's office

This morning Bates County Presiding Commissioner Jim Wheatley acknowledged that all outstanding invoices submitted by the Sheriff's Office will be paid in full. The decision followed a 2-1 vote by the commission with Trent Nelson and Kenny Mooney approving payments, with a no vote from Wheatley.

In a statement to Mid America Live Jim Wheatley said he "doesn't believe taxpayer money should be supporting expenses related to the posse" but went on to say all three commissioners fully support payment for any expenses incurred by the mounted patrol, jail and other costs related to the sheriff's office.
