Obituary - Shirley Ann Stark

Shirley Ann Stark was a caring wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully after battling Pulmonary fibrosis on September 26, 2023, at the age of 77.

Shirley was born in Unionville, MO, to Leman and Dora (Bottema) Sinclair on June 28, 1946. After graduating High School, Shirley left the farm and moved to Kansas City - a farm girl in a Big City. It didn't take her long to find a job at Kansas City Life Insurance Company where she worked for 35 years. She was a hard worker and was able to retire at the young age of 56.

In 1969, Shirley married Galen Stark. They had two kids: a daughter and a son. They lived in Independence until 2002 when they moved to Harrisonville so she could start enjoying her well-earned retirement. When making their decision on where to move, her main parameter was that she wanted to be close enough to the kids, so it wasn't a long-distance phone call anytime they wanted to call her.

Shirley dedicated her entire life to her kids - and grandson after his birth in 2002. She even became a mom to the neighborhood kids when her children were young. All the kids loved hanging out at Shirley's house where they were treated like her own.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Leman and Dora Sinclair, brother Roger Sinclair and great-nephew Stephan Sinclair.

Shirley is survived by her husband Galen, daughter Michelle Stark, son Scott Stark, grandson Shane Stark, brother Carroll Sinclair (Judy), brother Russell Sinclair (Donna), Sister-in-Law Vicki Sinclair, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
