Obituary - Waldeane Logan

Waldeane Logan, 88 of Butler, Missouri passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. There will be no visitation. Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). Memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Public Library or Butler Masonic Lodge #254. Nina Waldeane Niggley Logan, sometimes called Deanie and sometimes Mommo was born on December 26, in northern Bates County to Walter and Bessie Stoneking Niggley. She attended Harmony School for grades 1&2 and then in 1941, her dad decided he wasn’t a farmer and they moved to Butler. She attended Butler Elementary School until 5th & 6th grades, those years were spent in Weatherford, TX where her Dad was stationed in WWII, at Fort Walters, they returned to Butler in the fall of 1945. She completed her education at Butler High School in 1952 when she graduated.

She met the love of her life…Lowell Logan in Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Butler in 1945. His Mom was her Sunday School Teacher. They were married on June 8, 1952 in Butler. Two weeks later they moved to Fort Campbell Kentucky where Lowell was stationed with the 407th Battalion. He was discharged in November of 1952 and they returned to Butler and his job at the Southside Barber Shop.

Waldeane’s main interest was her home and family. She worked at Miller Florist for 18 years until 1990 when she retired due to health problems. She loved her flowers and her patio at home. She was a great cook and she and Lowell loved to entertain. She loved playing Bridge…with the “Dirty Dozen” and the Tuesday Ladies.

She was preceded in death by her parents and in laws, Warren and Nina Logan. Her beloved husband Lowell Logan in March of 2014. Her brother- in- law Kenneth Logan and nephew DeWayne Logan. Son-in-laws John Golden and Marty Wheelen. She is survived by her three children (amazing, I might add) …. D. Russell Logan and wife Pam of Lamar, Sandra Golden of Joplin and Sheri Wheelen and partner David Strauch of Joplin. Two wonderful granddaughters, Amanda O’Brien and husband Thaddeus of Overland Park, KS and Abbey Logan and wife Jenny of Kansas City, MO. Sister-in-law Dee Anna Logan of Galena, MO and her family. Numerous step-grandchildren and step Great Grandchildren. A large number of cousins with whom she was very close.
