Dennis Wayne Howard was born October 28, 1939 in Marion, Illinois the son of Sgt. Howard and Hilda Stanley. He grew up in Marion and Centralia, Illinois playing with friends around a small creek that ran through town, known to him as “Shit Creek”. At age 14, Pete began to play the guitar and his love of music grew. Through the years he would go on to play in several bands in many different places. Pete made a lot of lifelong friends that he met through music. Clarence McElwain, Rodney Cunningham, and Glen Minden along with many others. When Pete wasn’t playing country music he was working as a carpenter for many years.
Pete was united in marriage to Barbara Howard in the 80’s and later to Ellen White in 2000. Through this union Pete gained another family, including a step-daughter Laura, that he was very proud of and called her his special angel for taking care of him all these years.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Tom LaBotte, son Mitch Howard, granddaughter K.J. Clark, step-grandson Dakota Rommidfanger, and sister Joyce. He is survived by his wife Ellen Howard, daughter Tina Clark Patten, step-daughters, Renae Lundford and Laura Banfield, grandsons Michael and Josh, and step-grandchildren, Kelly, James Lee, Todd, Michael, and Taylor.
