Wayne Alan Sexton, 66, passed on October11, 2023. Celebration of life 2-6pm, Sunday, October 22nd at Fearless Dance Center 210 W Walnut Raymore, MO 64083. Everyone welcome.
Preceded in death by his wife Penny Sexton. Wayne is survived by his three children Marissa (Adam), Hayley (Brady) and Parker, his three grandsons Eli, Weston and Grant. Siblings: Jocelynn Sorcic (Tony), David Sexton (Lori). Parents: Jerry and Jeanne Sexton.
Wayne was born January 25th, 1957 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Jerry and Jeanne Sexton as their second child. He mainly grew up in Martin City, MO. He graduated from Grandview High School class of 1975. Much of Wayne’s childhood was spent making memories with his siblings and neighborhood best friends. Out of high school, Wayne worked as one of Kansas City’s most skilled autobody painter for 40+ years.
In 1982 while he was out dancing with friends, he met the love of his life, Penny (Lewis) Sexton. They would go on to get married and build a life that they loved and family that they raised in Peculiar, MO. Wayne spent his entire life working sunup to sun down, providing for his family. He spent many years as the main caretaker for his wife Penny when she fell sick with Breast Cancer, that would later return as metastatic breast cancer and take her life in 2021. Wayne enjoyed hunting, art, bowling, racing and laughing with family and friends. Although, some would argue one of his favorite parts of life was the time he spent with his beloved dogs over the years.
Wayne battled an aggressive fight with bladder cancer in the last year of his life, where he overcame many obstacles. He celebrated winning his battle by traveling out of the country for his first time to Mexico, where he was able to swim with a sea turtle. This would go down as one of the most special moments in his last few months of life. His cancer unexpectedly returned in September of 2023. Wayne passed away 6 weeks later peacefully in his home.
If desired, and in lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Arbor Day Foundation, in honor of Wayne.
