Update: Rollover accident in Cass County claims the life of Adrian woman

On Wednesday October 18th around 3:33 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on I-49 southbound just north of 307th Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway says the accident occurred when the southbound 2013 Kia Optima driven by 54 year old Shelly L. Merrick of Adrian, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Shelly L. Merrick was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident and she was transported to Forensics Medical in Kansas City.

A 15 year old male passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and he was transported by Life Flight to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City for treatment.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 76th fatality accident of the year 2023.
