Butler Fire Department conducts search and rescue training

From the office of the Fire Chief on Monday October 30 at 6:30 PM the Butler fire department conducted a multiple departments exercise which included the Butler fire department the Butler police department and the Bates County ambulance service.

The exercise took place on the Kyle Smith property. There was a 14-year-old Missing child, with autism and the departments all got together a command post was set up and performed search and rescue procedures in the dark, the child was located about 45 minutes after she was reported missing this is the kind of training it takes to be able to work with other departments in a multitask operation Everyone learns from this type of training to be able to fine-tune in the event of a real search and rescue operation and with that being said, these departments will be better trained and ready to respond in a true emergency.

A big thank you to the Butler police department and the Bates County EMS for working with the Butler fire department to bring together team worked that got the tasks accomplished in a minimum amount of time and everyone one went home safe.
