The first quarter left a lot to be desired for both teams offensive as only 13 total points were scored in the opening period. At the end of 8, the Lady Blackhawks sat atop the Lady Bears with a score of 7-5.
Butler jumpstarted the 2nd quarter with an impressive 10-3 run that would eventually propel them to a 7 point advantage with 2 minutes left in the first half. However, the Bears run would be thwarted by the Blackhawks who would force numerous Butler turnovers that they would then cash in for points on the other end, leading a run of their own. Adrian would take a 22-19 edge into the break.
The second half would see a combination of sloppy passing by the Bears and quick hand speed by the Blackhawks. This combination would allow Adrian to win both the 3rd and 4th quarters pretty handedly. The Lady Bears would be turnover the basketball over a total of 33 times on the night, the Blackhawks would convert a majority of those turnovers into points and walk away with a 48-33 victory.
The Blackhawks wer u e led by Riley Essenpries with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Olivia Hughes chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds, while Mylie Bruto would contribute 8 points and 6 steals on the night.
Kylee Dubray led all scoring for the the Lady Bears with 17 points and added 7 rebounds and 3 blocks to her stat line as well.
The Lady Blackhawk’s will rest until Saturday, while the Lady Bears will face against Clinton next on Thursday night at 7pm.
