Obituary - Edith Marie Patterson

Edith Marie Patterson, 88, of Butler, MO, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Victory Assembly of God in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Assembly of God.

Marie was born February 5, 1935 to Harry Thomas Bibens and Lillian Doris Ulery in Hillsdale, KS. She went to school in Bucyrus, KS, and later in Freeman, MO. She worked in her younger years at Fred Baret's Bakery in Newton, IA, then later at HD Lee in Kansas City, MO. After having her children, she focused on raising them and became a stay at home mom. She married Gilmer Orvis Patterson on October 12, 1963 and they were married for 48 years. Marie loved spending time with her family. She was especially proud of her grandkids and loved going to their wrestling meets, baseball, football and basketball games. She was their loudest cheerleader. She impressed the family with her ability to always remember everyone's birthdays and anniversaries. Marie was ornery and liked cutting up with people and telling jokes. She was one of a kind who never met a stranger and always had a hug for everyone she cared about.

Marie is preceded in death by her father, Harry Bibens; her mother, Lillian Prettyman; stepfather, Art Prettyman; husband, Gilmer Patterson; daughter, Jeanna Savory; grandson, Randy "Jake" Musser; brothers: William "Billy" Bibens, George Bibens, and Charles Bibens; sisters: Irene Bibens, Elaine Musser, Mary Poole, and Margret Owens; and her in-laws. She is survived by her sons: Randy Bibens and John Dickinson; her daughters: Julie (Tom) Kennedy, Joyce McSparrens, and Janice (Craig) Vinson; her brother, Andy Bibens; her sisters: Louise Cardock, Dorthy Yeager, Stella (Dennis) Devins, and Shirly Keifer; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
