A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Contributions may be made to Operation BBQ.
Verdean was born December 2, 1949, in Harrisonville, Missouri, a daughter of AC and Cleo (Kinney) Crosswhite. She spent her early years in Harrisonville where she was a member of the Harrisonville Rainbow Girls and a 1967 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Her first husband, R.G. Waters, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on August 17, 1980 in Harrisonville. She was united in marriage to Randall Glenn on June 24, 1985 in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Harrisonville, later moving to Butler where they spent the last 20 years.
Verdean worked as an area manager for Durham School Bus Services in Harrisonville for a number of years. Later, she and Randy spent lots of time together on the road working together as an OTR (Over the Road) team driving their truck. However, her favorite job was working as a disaster relief responder for Farmers Insurance Co. She responded to many disasters from Greensburg, KS, and Joplin, MO tornadoes to wildfires in California. She helped organize meals, helped with laundry, and organized getting pets back to their owners during these disasters.
Verdean enjoyed riding UTV’s and taking flight in hot air balloons in Arizona during the winter. She loved making meals for her family and friends. Spending time in the garden tending to her flowers. But probably one of her most favorite things was getting to spend time with her two grandsons watching them grow up. And we can’t fail to mention her Kool smokes and an ice cold Miller Lite.
Verdean is survived by her husband, Randy, Butler, MO; her son, Jay and wife,Kellie Waters, Butler, MO; grandchildren: Jesse Waters and wife, Raelyn, Justen“Bo” Waters and wife, Kiersten, and Alyssa Waters; one great-granddaughter,Kathryn (Kate) Waters; two sisters, Carol Armintrout and husband, Wayne, SueHelt and late husband Sam; and nieces and nephews: Eric and Glenda Armintrout, Lance and Laura Armintrout, Shawn and Michelle Helt, and Quentin and Shanda Lawrence. Along with many friends she considered family.
