Lady bears season ends tonight in district basketball

The Lady Bears looked to continue their season against the #1 seeded El Dorado Springs Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs came into the matchup boasting an impressive 23-3 record, and with a 63-19 win over the Bears already under their belt. The Lady Bears are 12-14 on the season, coming off a first round route of Sherwood.

To begin the game, the Lady Bulldogs controlled the tip and struck first with a deep ball from Collins. On the following possession, Collins would hammer home yet another trifecta, causing the Butler bench to burn an early timeout, trailing 6-0 after the opening minute. Out of the time-out, El Dorado would continue to roll, putting together a 9-0 run. With 3 minutes remaining in the period, Clover would get the Bears on the board, going 1-2 from the free throw line, bringing the scoring total to 15-1. The Bulldogs closed out the quarter outscoring the Bears 8-2 in the final 2 minutes of the quarter. After the opening 8 the Bears found themselves trailing 23-3.

The second quarter was started by Haven sinking a jumper to get the Bears back on the board. The Bulldogs answered quickly and rattled off a 17-0 run. At the break, the Lady found themselves trailing 44-9.

Mays initiated the scoring in the second half for the Bulldogs, which led to yet another El Do run, this time it was a 6-0 run. Carmichael would end the run with a floater, getting the Bears back in the scoring column before Collins would hit anther triple. For a couple of moments both teams swapped baskets, until the Bulldogs would go on a 5-0 run to close out the quarter and stretch their lead to 60-17 going into the 4th.

In the final period, the clock would run as the Bears found themselves trailing by a handful. Haven would trigger the scoring for the period with a jumper. The Bulldogs would punch their ticket to the championship with a 69-27 win over the Bears.

The Bears were led in scoring by Dubray with 10 points.

Collins led all scoring with 17 points on the night, followed by Schaaf with 16.
