Obituary - Glenn A. Gover

Glenn A. Gover, age 61, passed away on Monday, February 19th, 2024, peacefully in his home in Clinton, Missouri. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at the Clinton Christian Church in Clinton, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the service at 10:00 a.m. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Clinton Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton Christian Church or the Clinton Elks Lodge.

Glenn was born on March 18, 1962, in Butler, Missouri to Vance and Marilyn Gover. He attended Clinton Public School, Wentworth Military Academy, and graduated from CHS in 1980. It was during these years that his lifelong friendship with a large, rambunctious group of characters was fostered. After high school, Glenn attended Drury University and started working at G & G Oil/Gover Transport. Throughout Glenn’s life, he owned over 100 cars and almost 20 motorcycles. It was his love for all things motorized that led him to a career of trucking, driving for Zollicker Oil and Champion Brands. Some of you might know him by his handle, “GAG.” Glenn was an ardent list-maker, documenting the interesting facets of his life. He estimated traveling around 3,500,000 miles in his big rig throughout his career, with countless friends he met along the way.

When Glenn wasn’t tearing up the pavement, he was tearing up the skies as a member of the Golden Valley Radio Control Club. He was also an active member of the Clinton Elks Lodge and prided himself on carrying the flag during the Clinton Olde Glory Days parade. Glenn was also the proud coach of the famous Pearl, the multiple award-winning weenie dog at the annual wiener dog races. Some of his other favorite activities included fishing, boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, and tinkering with motors.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, Emma Gover (age 21), who is currently studying Marketing at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Glenn was smitten with his baby girl the moment she was born. He enjoyed showing his baby the United States with trips to his favorite places:
Disneyland, Las Vegas, Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Colorado. Glenn was an avid reader and passed along his love of reading to Emma. Glenn was also a lover of animals, having numerous pets: cats, dogs, rabbits, goats, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, and a rude, talkative parrot, Sydney. Emma shares his love of animals and is the devoted mother, to Glenn’s grandcat, Salem. He is also survived by his large, rambunctious group of lifetime friends and all the friends he met along the way.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Marilyn Gover. They instilled in him a strong faith in God. Up until his passing, Glenn leaned heavily on his faith and his family at the Clinton Christian Church. May we all mirror his faith and take comfort in our best memories of
Glenn, Glenny, Glennard, GAG, or whatever handle you prefer.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
