Obituary - Sandra "Sandy" Telithia Sehorn

Sandra "Sandy" Telithia Sehorn passed away peacefully at the age of 88 with her husband, Mel, and family by her side on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Foxwood Springs Senior Living in Raymore, Missouri. There will be a private family service at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO, Wednesday, February 28, 2024. In lieu of flowers, Charitable donations can be made in honor of Sandra Sehorn to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) for further Demetia research.

Sandra was born on June 5, 1935 in Pleasant Hill, MO, to Alex and Bonetha (Hamilton) Small. Sandra grew up in Pleasant Hill, MO, where she graduated high school. She married the love of her life, Melvin "Mel" Sehorn, in 1953. In their early years of marriage while Mel served in the Army, Sandra joined her husband as he moved to several bases in the states. They then settled in Harrisonville, MO, and later to Peculiar and Raymore, where she took care of her family and worked at Ray-Pec school district. Later, she completed her teaching degree and held several teaching jobs until she retired with her husband to travel and enjoy family. Sandra was a church organist for many years and a longtime member of the First Baptist Churches in Harrisonville, Peculiar and Raymore. Sandra enjoyed painting, camping, boating, fishing and watching children and grandchildren participate in sporting and school activities.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Pennington, of Pleasant Hill, MO; her brother, Alex (Marilyn) Small, of Trinity, FL; her sister, Judith Speece, of Estes Park, CO; her husband of 70 years, Melvin Sehorn, of Raymore, MO; her children: Cindy (Glen) Bowman of Raymore, MO; David (Vaunda) Sehorn of Lawrence, KS; Carol (Glen) Barnett of Raymore, MO; 2 grandchildren: Mark (Kelly) Raby and Austin Sehorn; 3 great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Foxwood Springs and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care of Sandra in her final years.
