In 1972, he married the love of his life, Joyce, and they raised their family in Peculiar. Duane spent his retirement years in his greenhouse and loved sharing his plants with friends and family.

Duane also leaves behind his four beloved grandchildren: Ryan (Tabby) Gingrich, Erik (Hannah) Gingrich, Corbin Callison, and Raegan Passeau; and three great-grandchildren: Kyra Snelson, Jesse Cox, and Alivia Cox.
