Obituary - Arlene Dorothy Goth

Arlene Dorothy (Cook) Goth, age 91, of Clinton, Mo passed away on March 15, 2024 at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Clinton, Missouri. A recitation of the rosary will begin at 10:40 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow immediately afterward. Burial will take place in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family suggests memorial contributions to Holy Rosary Catholic Church and may be left in care of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home.

Arlene was born April 19, 1932 in Germantown, Mo. She passed away on March 15, 2024 at the age of 91. She was the youngest of seven children born to William and Clara (Daldrup) Cook. She was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Clinton. Arlene grew up in Germantown, Mo and attended St. Ludger’s Catholic School there. She later graduated from St. Francis Academy in Nevada, Mo in 1949 as the valedictorian of her class.

Arlene married Ernest Edward Goth on April 27, 1953 in Germantown, Mo and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage prior to his death on November 20, 2011. During their marriage they lived for 35 years on their farm near Montrose, Mo, raising their four children. In 1988, they retired to Clinton, Mo.

Arlene was an expert seamstress and quilter. Her family will always cherish the beautiful quilts that she made for them. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her gardens, but her greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one great grandson, John Edward Goth; and her six siblings and their spouses: Harold (Jean) Cook, Luella (Jack) Deibel, Leona (Jim) White, Emmet (Regina) Cook, Millard (Laverne) Cook, and Estle (Loretta) Cook.

Survivors include her children: Norman (Nancy) Goth of Springfield, Mo; Elaine Goth of Orlando, FL; Sandra (Lewis) Moreland of Clinton, Mo; and Brenda (Ed) Meaney of Sugar Land, TX. She is survived by five grandchildren: Matthew Moreland, Nolan (Jordan) Goth, Brian Meaney, Kerri Meaney, and Owen (Taylor) Meaney. And, one great grandchild: Jack Edward Goth.

Arlene will be greatly missed by those who knew her and loved her as her family celebrates her long and full life, well-lived.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
