Butler Bears Baseball Team Comes Up Short Against the Warrensburg Tigers 6-3.

The Bears opened the scoring in the first after a wild pitch scored one run. Carter Johnson doubled, which helped the Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. A balk gave Warrensburg the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the second.

Freshman Rhett Newsome grounded out, which helped the Bears tie the game in the top of the fourth. A tag up by Sophomore Jake Chandler gave the Butler Bears the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tigers went back into the lead after the Bears committed an error scoring one.

Junior Eli Cox started the game for the Bears. He gave up six hits and five runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking none. 

Eli Cox went 1-for-2 at the plate as the pitcher led the team with one run batted in. Senior Maddox Fennewald, Cox, Sophomore Bryson Kash, Chandler, and Sophomore Cohen Wilson each collected one hit for the Bears. 

Jake Chandler paced the Butler Bears with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. The Bears turned one double play in the game.

Butler will hit the road on Monday April 8th, and take on the undefeated Lone Jack Mules.
