Butler Varsity Bears baseball team shuts out Sherwood 12-0

The Butler Bears won big over the Sherwood Marksmen 12-0 on Tuesday.

The Bears got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Senior Cameron Anderson knocked in one run on a fielder's choice. 

Sophomore Brock Lines tripled, scoring two runs, Sophomore Brandon Hammett singled, scoring two runs, and Senior Maddox Fennewald singled, scoring one run.

Butler scored six runs in five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Fennewald singled, scoring one run, one run was scored on a balk, Freshman Trey Green singled, scoring one run, Brock Lines singled, scoring two runs, and Sophomore Jake Chandler singled, scoring one run.

Fennewald earned the win for the Bears. The right-hander surrendered two hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking none. Shane Brownfield started on the mound for Sherwood. They surrendered eight hits and 10 runs (nine earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking two. Junior Eli Cox pitched one and one-third innings of no-run ball for the Bears in relief. He gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

The Bears amassed 11 hits in the game. Brock Lines led the Bears with three runs batted in from number the eight spot in the lineup. 

The center fielders each collected two hits for the Bears. Hammett stole two bases. The Butler Bears ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game.

The Butler Bears will travel to the Nevada Tigers for their next game on Thursday.
