Obituary - Harold Covington

Harold Jean Covington, age 84, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away quietly in his home on April 2, 2024. He was born September 15, 1939 in Mountain Home, Arkansas, the son of Velma Elliott and Howard Houston Covington.

He served in the United States Army and married Helga Wesier Covington with whom he had two sons, Houston and Roy Covington.

After his military service he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked for Ford Motor Company as an equipment operator for 30 years. During this time he met and married Barbara Jule Covington and together they had a daughter and a son, Dee and Joe Covington.

He was a step father to the children of wife, Billie Coon, and was proud to be a part of the lives of those three children, Ray, Marie and Richie Coon.

In the later chapter of his life he partnered with Lou Anne Wagelie and they lived a full life together in Sycamore Valley.

Harold found joy in family and nature. He was an avid fisherman, winning the Old Oar House Inn Catfish Tournament in 1989.

He loved to hunt, dance and sing and was a regular of The Valley Bar where he could be found with a Bud Light in his hand and an old country song on his lips.

Harold was preceded in death by his mother, Velma, his son, Roy, and two brothers, Carl Covington and James McLaughlin.

He is survived by three children, three stepchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Reser Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral at the Shawnee Cemetery.
