He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America as a young man. He graduated from Clinton High School where he excelled in football and baseball. He enjoyed welding, casinos and following the Kansas City Chiefs.
Surviving are one daughter, Kaitlyn Marie Heigelmann (Ryan), Stow, Ohio; three sisters, Cynthia Ann Lewis (Mike), Raymore, Mo., Cherye L. Jones, Clinton, Mo., and Debra Christine Bonnewitz, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elberta and his father, Douglas.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. Mr. Long will lie in state from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Englewood Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to C.A.R.E. (Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor), and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
