Butler Lady Bears Softball Team Defeats Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds 11-2 in First Round of Districts

Butler Lady Bears Softball Defeats Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds On Back Of Clutch Display From Freshman Kylee Dubray..

Butler Freshman Kylee Dubray drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Lady Bears past the Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds 11-2 on Friday in the first round of district play.

Dubray tripled in the third scoring two, hit a home run to center field in the seventh scoring two, and singled in the first scoring one. Dubray struck out 12 batters on the day. 

She also gave up one hit and two runs over seven innings while walking eight. Butler opened the scoring in the first after Dubray singled, scoring one run.

The Lady Bears added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Dubray tripled, scoring two runs, and Senior Haven Humphrey grounded out, scoring one run. Butler scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to center field by Dubray.

Emma Thayer stepped in the circle first for Lady Bluebirds. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and 11 runs (seven earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two. 

Kate Harrison went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Cole Camp Varsity Bluebirds in hits. Cole Camp Varsity Bluebirds had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Thayer and Taylor Loganbill led the team with two free passes each. Thayer stole two bases.

Butler will await the winner of a game being played tonight to determine who they will play next!
