VCSO Deputy awarded lifesaver award

A deputy was recently awarded the VCSO lifesaver award from the Vernon County Sheriff's Office for his role in an incident that occurred earlier in the month.

According to Vernon County Sheriff, Jason Mosher, Deputy Melvin Nay responded to an incident and risked his own life to save the life of a person who was making suicidal threats with a firearm.

During the incident deputy Nay took the firearm away from the individual risking his own life in the process. The person was safely transported to a medical facility for evaluation and care.

Chief Deputy Travis Cole, who oversees the training and awards program, put in the recommendation for the award to be issued.

Help us in congratulating Deputy Nay for his courage and willingness to sacrifice his life for another.
