La Cygne Kansas man arrested for battery

On 06/13/2024 at approximately 1805 hours, officers with the La Cygne Police Department and deputies with the Linn County Sheriff's Office responded to the La Cygne City Hall for a report of a battery, which occurred in the 200 block of E. Market St., where the victim had sustained serious injuries. The investigation revealed the suspect had fled city limits and was possibly in Missouri.

Officers promptly submitted a probable cause affidavit for Aggravated Battery and presented it to a Linn County District Judge who granted an arrest warrant for the suspect. Deputies with the Bates County Sheriff's Office, MO, located and arrested the suspect, Ryan D. Long of La Cygne, on that warrant. Long was extradited back to Linn Co., where he is being held.

Thank you to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Linn County Attorney's Office, and the Bates County Sheriff's Office for all of their assistance and continued partnership in this case and many others. Zachary Mathies Chief of Police, La Cygne Police Department.
