Obituary - Estella Louise Colson

Estella Louise Colson, daughter of Richard William and Myrtle Marie (Smith) Colson was born on December 19, 1938, in St. Clair Co. near Taberville, MO. She departed this life at Rock Island Village in Eldon, MO on June 20, 2024, at the age of 86 years.

She lived her younger years near Appleton City, MO, graduating from Appleton City High School and married her High School sweetheart, Bobby Gene Allinson on November 21, 1956, in the Methodist Church in Appleton City, MO. Their union was blessed with two children Richard Darren Allinson and Curtis Craig Allinson.

The early years of her marriage were spent in Washington DC, where she worked for the FBI as a secretary and Bob worked for the FBI as a fingerprint technician. After returning to Missouri, she spent several years living in various locations, as Bob established his career as a Highway Patrolman. Finally, Bob received a permanent post in Macon, MO and there they raised their boys.

In Macon she had a full life as a mother of two energetic boys, and the wife of an active patrolman. She worked at the Macon Atlanta Bank, was a member of the First Christian Church and a lifetime Beta Sigma Phi member. During their time together in Macon Louise and Bob had many adventures with family and friends, the stories were numerous and colorful. Louise was a gifted quilter and had a flair for decorating. She always enjoyed her yearly trips to Paducah, KY to the quilt shows and HGTV was big on her TV viewing list.

Upon their retirement in September of 1992 a dream was fulfilled, and Louise and Bob moved to Laurie, MO and bought a house on the Lake.

In life joy and sadness coexist and tragically in November of 1993 Louise lost the love of her life in an accident. As Louise had learned in life, she picked the pieces up and went on.

Louise continued the square-dancing club that her and Bob had joined and met new friends. A new companion came into her life, Harold Bailey. They found they shared interests in travel, square dancing and family and on December 3, 1997, were united in marriage starting a second chapter for Louise. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home, spending winters in Texas and traveling around to square dancing competitions with friends. Harold passed from Louise's life in November of 2006.

Louise resided the remainder of her years in Laurie, MO near family and friends still enjoying square dancing and travel until moving into the Rock Island Retirement Village in Eldon, MO in March of 2021.

Preceding Louise in death were her parents, husband and father of her children, Bob Allinson and husband Harold Bailey.

Survivors include her sons Richard Darren Allinson (Alice), Curtis Craig Allinson (Connie); her grandchildren Samantha Allinson Dunn (Matt), Trevor Allinson (Letizia),

Paige Allinson Wells (Brian), Kyle Allinson (Kayla) and Kristen Allinson Quintana (Tommy); 12 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Gerald Allinson and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at the Appleton City Cemetery at interment, with no visitation or viewing.

Tentative Graveside Service is scheduled for Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Appleton City Cemetery in Appleton City, Missouri.
