She was a 1972 graduate of Odessa High School, Odessa, Mo.; the Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College, receiving her Associate of Applied Science degree in 1984; and the Warrensburg Area Vocational Technical School Licensed Practical Nursing program in 1999. Lynda was the school nurse for the Knob Noster High School for 19 years, retiring in 2020. Prior to that she was a teacher’s aid with the Clinton School District from 1990 to 1997. She was a member of the Jesus Christ Clinton Restoration Branch, and the Daughters of the American Revolution since 2012.
She enjoyed gardening, rooting on the Chiefs, going to the Samaritan Center and the Dairy Queen with her beloved dog, Ritzi and granddaughter, Taylor.
Surviving are two daughters, Drusilla Cox, Clinton, Mo., and Corey Norcross, Clinton, Mo.; three grandchildren, Taylor Kirk, Clinton, Mo., Alexis Cox, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Katelyn Sutton, Clinton, Mo.; her “mom”, Shirley Flarharty, Odessa, Mo.; siblings, Sam Flarharty, Higginsville, Mo., Gene Flarharty, Independence, Mo., Pam Weber, Aurora, Mo., Sheila Smith, Osceola, Mo., Shawna Griffin, Warsaw, Mo., Daphne Flarharty, Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Matt Flarharty, Odessa, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her “angels”, Karen Blair, Brenda Moore and Rebecca Hardin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alan and Drusilla Dunkeson and her “dad”, Dallas Flarharty.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Englewood Cemetery. Mrs. Norcross will lie in state from noon to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.
