St. Clair County Sheriff's Office mourns the loss of beloved K9

St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is heartbroken to share with you the unexpected passing of K9 Havik. Havik passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Havik was a 9 1/2 years old Black German Shepherd who proudly served the citizens of St. Clair County since he was 14 months old, alongside Sheriff Lee Hilty. During Havik’s career he assisted in hundreds of narcotic arrests and deployments resulting in the safe apprehension of suspects and citizens who were lost. Havik was well known and loved by everyone in our community. Havik’s drive was to always do the best he could and his playful presence will be missed. K9 Havik was a big part in our department and in the community. Havik’s love for work and for everyone around him was seen in his eyes every day. We are grateful for the time and dedication Havik gave to the Sheriff’s Office.

Havik will be extremely missed by everyone here at the Sheriff’s Office as well as the community. Havik’s commitment to his community will never be forgotten.

Havik passed away peacefully after his shift on Friday, July 26, 2024 due to an unknown medical condition.
