From the desk of Benton County Sheriff Eric Knox

On March 14th, 2024, in Benton County, Circuit Court case number 22BE-CR00562, titled STATE OF MISSOURI v. KOURTNEY AUMEN, the Honorable Judge Brandon Baker ordered an extension of time to complete mental evaluation and report filed by the Missouri Department of Mental Health and Fulton State Hospital, which is a secure facility. 

During this extension of time, the criminal proceedings in this case shall be suspended. The Defendant would be committed to the custody of the Director of the Missouri Department of Mental Health.

On August 14th, 2024, Kourtney Aumen was transferred to Fulton State Hospital to be in the care and custody of the Director of the Missouri Department of Mental Health. 

The head of the facility, or a qualified Designee, shall examine the Defendant to ascertain whether she is mentally fit to proceed to trial, and if not, whether there is a substantial probability that she will attain mental fitness to proceed to trial in the foreseeable future.

When Kourtney Aumen has attained mental fitness to proceed to trial, she will be returned to the Benton County Detention Center, and criminal proceeding in this case will continue.
