Obituary - Melvin "Monty" L. Crain

Melvin “Monty” L. Crain, age 67, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at home surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

Monty was born in Wichita, Kansas on November 17, 1956 to Melvin L. Crain and Margaret M. (Clark) Crain. He obtained his GED and continued his education at DeVry University. Monty worked many years in construction around Independence, Kansas where he and his family lived for many years. 

He also volunteered much of his time and energy with the Louisburg Township Fire Department as EMS and a Firefighter. Monty was a proud member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe, loved hunting, fishing, and when he could, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Monty was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Margaret Crain; two brothers, Richard and Tom Crain; three sisters, Barbara Miller, Delores Miller, and Rita Ballew; son, Derek Crain; daughter in law, Lacy Crain; grandson, Damien Crain; and two granddaughters, Jade Crain and Cameron Wolford.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Crain; son, Travis Crain (Mindy); daughter, Adrienne Edmonds; brothers, Lawrence “Butch” Crain (Maryann) and Gerald Crain (Dianne) sister, Judy Ballew; nine grandchildren, Blakley Crain, Jessica Pittenger (Ray), Kilik Crain, Mana Crain, Ebony Crain, Kyla Wolford (Dylan), Ella Wolford, Kamrin Crain, and Alexander Edmonds; and four great grandchildren, Bleu Roach, Dexter Perea, Anika Crain, and Danielle “Dani” Pittenger.

Graveside services will be held at Harrisonville Cemetary, Bolton, KS with date and time still to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting memorials in Monty's name to Louisburg Township Rural Fire Departent or Eastern Shawnee Wellness Center Room.
